Blessings from Satya da

This year you have raised Rs.1,67,046/- (our Receipt No. H-463489 dt. 11.07.2009). Pease note that last year you contributed Rs.1,29,708/- (our Receipt No.H-413286 dt. 19.07.2008). I usually spend this money on these students who cannot pay the examination fees of Part-I, Part-II and Part-III. The beneficiaries are many. You all come to their help. In fact, I have no other sources to meet these expenses. I congratulate you for the amount. This year, prices of almost all articles have gone up. So, I thank all of you for the excellent contribution.

Our Golden Jubilee Consecration starts from August 3, 2009. Most Revered President Maharaj is coming at 9.30 a.m. on 3rd August, 2009. Please attend.

Love.

Satyada

Thank You

Dear All,

BHS 2009 has come to an end.

Congratulations to all of us. We have once again successfully collected our offering towards the Brotherhood Scholarship Fund. This is the 6th successive year we have done this. And this is also the highest ever collection. The final number stands at Rs 167,046/- (Rs One lakh, Sixty Seven Thousand and forty six only). This has been possible because of the whole hearted support from 56 contributors, which is another record in the Brotherhood Scholarship movement. In 2008 we had 46 contributors. We have spoken to Satya da about this and he is very happy and proud for us.

Manna would visit Narendrapur on 11th with the draft. Those who are interested to join Manna are requested to contact him to coordinate time and meeting place etc.

We sincerely thank all, who have contributed to this cause. We also thanks all those who have shown solidarity and have provided encouragement. All the information about this year’s movement would be uploaded to the blog. We are determined to continue this initiative in the coming years too and would love to see you there. To further mobilize resources for the coming years, request all of us spread this news/ information to our RKM Narendrapur contacts.

We would get back to you with scanned copies of the draft and receipt.

Best Regards.

Manna, Gautam & Avi.

Outside Contributors???

Guyz, a thought.

Since the responses to our initiative are thinning down, some of think we should approach willing contributors outside the ex-students of RKM. I had privately discussed this with a few of us, and it seems to be the only workable option. There are a few people outside the alumni group who are sympathetic to our movement.

It may be late for this year. However can be explored for the next year. Wanted to check your opinion. Comments/ discussions are welcome.

Regards.

Avi.

Brotherhood Scholarship Fund- 2009

Brotherhood Scholarship Fund- 2009
An initiative by Ex-students of Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon of 2004. A few of Ex-students of RKM Narendrapur were chit-chatting (more appropriate word would be- ‘bhat boka’) after a heavy meal. One thing led to other and they felt something constructive has to be done by the ex-students to help the present students. An idea of contributing Rs 2,400/- (at the rate of Rs 200/- per month for 12 months) for the meritorious, but financially needy students was agreed. All agreed that this is the amount one would generally spend if one went for a movie. That’s how Brotherhood Scholarship was born.

Today we are in 2009. In the past five years we had seen the number of contributors being increased to 46 from initial 20. Total amount contributed in 2004 was Rs. 52,000/-. In 2008 it touched Rs 129,000/-. And all put together we have contributed more than Rs 4 lakhs. We feel proud of our achievement.

We want to continue this initiative in the full blast. We want to spread the feeling of being proud and being responsible to as many ex-students as possible. We were in Narendrapur during our formative days. Now we want the spirit of Narendrapur to live within us. (This is not my word. I am merely echoing what Satya da had said on our last day at Narendrapur). Therefore, this year too we would undertake the initiative of collecting contribution for our fellow brothers, who need our help.

Considering the tough economic situation, in spite of several suggestions to increase the minimum contribution amount, we would keep it at Rs 2,400 for the 6th successive year. However, as followed in the previous years, contribution of any amount would be welcome.

Contribution would be collected through crossed cheque, bank draft or internet transfer. Cash would normally not be taken. The entire sum collected, would handed over to the college authorities at one go. The receipt would be shared with all contributors through e mail. It would not possible to provide individual receipts. However, if needed a letter can be issued from RKMR college authorities mentioning the names of the contributors.

Contributions can be sent to any of the following three people.
